Foxconn To Start Operation In 2013

Jakarta, May 8 (ANTARA) - Electronic component producer Foxconn will start operation in Indonesia this year, trade minister Gita Wirjawan said. "God willing they will start assembling and producing this year," he said after inspecting ITC Roxy Mas electronics shopping center here on Wednesday. Foxconn has already signed a cooperation agreement with a local partner to set up an assembly and production plant. He said the plant would be set up in Java but he still did not know its exact location. Huge demand for technological products must be met with production of components at home, he said. He said people must choose domestically-made products rather than foreign ones that entered into the country illegally. "Demand for telecommunication products is huge and so it should be met with domestically-made products," he said. In view of the opportunity he urged local entrepreneurs to create products that could compete with products from abroad and in that regard the government is ready to help them with funding. "I hope more national entrepreneurs would be encouraged. The key is funding," he said.
