Police Says Attacker Of Police Station Terrorist Group Member

Tasikmalaya, West Java, May 14 (Antara) - Police said the man who threw a bomb at a police post on Jalan Mitra Batik in Tasikmalaya, West Java, recently was a member of the terrorist network uncovered in Bandung recently. "He has been identified as a member of one the networks in Cipacing, Bandung, West Java," West Java regional police command`s deputy chief Brigadier General Ricko Amelza Dahniel said here on Tuesday. He said the man known by initial as SL was shot to death by a traffic police member after throwing a bomb at the police post. The attacker who once lived in Bandung, the capital of West Java province, had acted by himself. His body has already been taken to a police hospital in Bandung for an autopsy. Regarding the type of the bomb, Ricko said he did not know yet and would wait for the explanation from the anti-terror unit Densus 88 handling the case. The incident occurred on May 13 at around 7.30 pm when the street was still very busy. Two police officers on duty at the post immediately conducted a chase until Jalan Cipedes not far away from the post where the suspect tried to shoot the officers with a hand-made gun but the gun failed to operate. First Adjunct Inspector Wijartono tried to arrest him but the suspect defied and tried to attack him with a dagger. Another police officer, First Brigadier Wahyu then shot him twice causing him to death.
