Bandung Ready To Hold Tangkuban Parahu Festival 2013

Bandung, W. Java, May 14 (Antara) - The Third Culture and Tourism Festival of Tangkuban Parahu will be held for two days, starting from May 15 to 16 at Lembang Square in Bandung Barat District, West Java Province. "The purpose of holding this festival is to promote arts and culture tourism as well as the potential of creative economy in the region, particularly in the area of Mount Tangkuban Parahu," Chairman of the Culture and Tourism Festival of Tangkuban Parahu Martika Edison said here on Tuesday. He stated the festival`s theme is "Unity in Diversity to Produce Spirit of Pluralism and Optimism for Generating Local Cultural Wisdom and Indonesian Tourism Progress". "In addition, this festival is a manifestation of our gratitude to God Almighty," he said. According to Edison, the festival is organized with the support of several parties, among others the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie, the West Java provincial government, the West Java Police, the West Java Legislative Council, the West Bandung district government, and Paguyuban Pasundan (the Sundanese association). "According to the plan, Marzuki Alie will officially open the festival along with Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sapta Nirwanda, Governor of West Java Ahmad Heryawan, West Java Police Chief, and some others," Edison noted. Various art and carnival performances will be featured in the festival, such as "Canka Panorama Secapa AD" drum band, Bharaya Band, "Cepot" puppet show in a band, Sisingaan dance performed by local community, and other traditional art performances. Edison hoped that, in the future, the Culture and Tourism Festival of Tangkuban Parahu could become an annual festival, so it could be a pride for the citizens of West Java.
