S. Korea beats Iraq 2-0 to advance to quarterfinals at U19 competition
SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea defeated Iraq 2-0 Wednesday (Korean time)
to reach the quarterfinals of the under-19 Asian Football Confederation
championship in Saudi Arabia, the sport's governing body here said.
Kim Bo-kyung and Moon Ki-han scored in the 23rd and 77th minutes, respectively,
at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and propelled South
Korea to Saturday's quarterfinals match against Japan, the Korea Football
Association said.
South Korea, who seek their first title at the regional championship competition
since 2004, have posted two wins and one loss, finishing second in Group B. A
berth in the semifinals of the 16-nation tournament automatically guarantees a
ticket to the under-20 World Cup scheduled for next year in Egypt.
