APEC Forum in bali To Step Up Investment
Jakarta, May 17 (Antara) - Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Week and related meetings to be held in Bali from October 1 to 8, 2013 will be a good opportunity to step up investment in Indonesia.
"The event will be a good opportunity to promote various business potentials and investment to the countries in the region to invest in Indonesia," Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin)`s Deputy Chairman for Energy, Oil and Gas Wisnu Wardhana said here on Thursday.
He said Indonesia would host the APEC Economic Leaders Week in Bali in October this year by involving the Ministry of Economy, APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and more than one thousands business players from Asia-Pacific countries.
According to him, all state/government leaders and business players from APEC region were expected to attend that magnificent event.
"We have designed a special symposium for investment in Indonesia, particularly in the Micro, Small and Medium Business (UMKM) forum in the framework of APEC Leaders` Week in Bali," Wisnu noted.
He expressed hope that during the event, the business world could play its role in determining an economic recommendation for the Asia-Pacific region.
Wisnu acknowledged that APEC policy was determined by the government with a formal trade agreement, but based on the fact in the field, the determinant was the business necessity.
Therefore, he said it was the hope of Kadin that the recommendation in the economic integration reference would in the long run be beneficial for APEC member countries including Indonesia.
"With its good economic development, Indonesia is now under the international spotlight. Therefore the nation`s business players should be able to take advantage from the APEC Economic Leaders` Week to play their more role in the Asia-Pacific region," he said.
Wisnu added that the achievement of the APEC Economic Leaders` Week this year would be different from that of the similar event in Bogor, West Java, in 1994.
"The event in Bali in October this year will be the second round for Indonesia, and that the result will be much different because the present economic issue is increasingly complex," he noted.
