Samsung Heavy Q3 net surges 23 pct

SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Heavy Industries Co., the world's
second-largest shipbuilder, said Wednesday its third quarter net soared 23.1
percent on-year thanks to high-margin ship sales.
Net profit stood at 174.2 billion won (US$137.6 million) in the July-September
period, compared with 141.5 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales jumped 16 percent on-year to 2.6 trillion won with operating profit
advancing 19.7 percent to 142.5 billion won, it said.
Shares of Samsung Heavy closed up 1.95 percent at 20,900 won on the main bourse.
