Hanwha Eagles manager picked to head World Baseball Classic squad

SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's baseball ruling body said Wednesday it
picked Hanwha Eagles manager Kim In-sik as head of its World Baseball Classic
squad, but Kim has yet to accept the post.
The decision came after the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) initially
considered SK Wyverns manager Kim Seong-geun for the job. He turned it down
citing health concerns before the KBO convened its meeting Wednesday in Seoul.
KBO chief Ha Il-sung said Kim In-sik told him he also needed time to consider the
offer, saying he had "never expected it." The World Baseball Classic is scheduled
for March next year, and Kim led South Korea to the semifinals of the competition
two years ago.
Hanwha Eagles, based in Daejeon in central South Korea, finished fifth in the
South Korean league this year.
