Anthology of Korean literature published in English

SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean institute on Wednesday released the
first volume of what is planned to be an annual publication of contemporary
Korean literature translated into English.
The government-funded Korea Literature Translation Institute (KLTI) published the
374-page anthology of Korean short stories and poetry titled "New Writing from
Korea: Crossing Borders."
The first volume in the series contains 10 stories and two to three poems each by
15 poets.
The works, all published in Korean in 2006, were written by contemporary authors
including Eun Hee-kyung, Yoon Sung-hee and Yun Dae-nyeong and poets such as Moon
Tae-kun, Lee Byung-ryul and Kim Kyung-ju.
Translators included American scholar Kevin O'Rourke and Brother Anthony,
professor emeritus of the English Department of Sogang University.
The aim of the series is to make Korean literary works more known abroad,
officials said.
