U.S. Embassy Holds Discussion On APEC Women Forum Plan

Jakarta, June 14 (Antara) - US Deputy Chief of Mission Kristen Bauer hosted female guests from various Indonesian ministries, the Bank of Indonesia, and the private sector for a discussion of Indonesia`s plans for the APEC Women and the Economy Forum in September, the US embassy in Jakarta said in a statement here, Friday. During the discussion, Bauer underscored strong a U.S. commitment to eliminate economic barriers for women within the APEC region and build on achievements from previous events in San Francisco and St. Petersburg. Guests highlighted Indonesia`s rural financial inclusion initiatives and outlined plans to synergize work on small and medium size enterprises and women`s issues within APEC this year. "The U.S. Embassy looks forward to continued cooperation and dialogue with these stakeholders in advance of the Women and the Economy Forum," the statement said.
