Ministry Unable To Solve Housing Issues Alone

Jakarta, June 13 (Antara) - Indonesian Public Housing Minister Djan Faridz revealed that his office would not be able to solve the housing expenses alone with issues such as the number of "backlog" (housing shortages) that reaches more than 13 million units. "The government in this case through the Ministry of Housing (Kemenpera) will not be able to solve the problems of housing and residential areas alone," said Djan Faridz in a release received here on Friday. According to Djan responsibilities roles and commitment of various stakeholders is absolutely necessary to make the perception and awareness of mutual understanding on housing is a major and complex issue. The Minister said that there are linkages between sectors that often create unexpected influence so that housing policy should not be approached by partial and isolative. Previously, the minister has invited young entrepreneurs who are members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association, HIPMI, to jointly build cheap houses. "The association shall find a gap for the cheap house market because the current housing backlog has reached 13.5 million units," said Djan Faridz on Tuesday (June 11). Faridz also confirmed that his Ministry will continue to support various parties who want to build cheap houses for the grassroots community. The support would be done among others by the ease of licensing and land acquisition in order to build the low-cost housing development. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Association of Housing Development in Indonesia, Apersi, Eddy Ganefo said that his association strongly supports the Ministry`s program that continues to build homes for low income people. "Regulation assistant that has been given by the Ministry is one form of good cooperation and assisted us in running the government program for low-income housing," said Eddy Ganefo.
