S. Korea to hold IR sessions in Russia, Asia
SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will hold investor relations (IR) sessions in Russia, Singapore and Hong Kong late this month in an effort to lure more foreign direct investment, the government said Friday.
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy said it will hold an IR session in Russia Nov.
24-26 together with the state-run Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. IR
events in Hong Kong and Singapore are scheduled for Nov. 25 and Nov. 27,
respectively.
"The government will focus on energy cooperation in Russia and help arrange
closer tie-ups with startup and venture capital firms in Southeast Asia," the
ministry said.
Faced with a slumping economy, Seoul is striving to attract more foreign direct
investment to bolster economic growth, create jobs and help stabilize the foreign
exchange market.
South Korea expects to attract US$12 billion in foreign direct investment this
year. The ministry said the goal is attainable, despite concerns over the global
economic recession.
