Daegu to host 2013 World Energy Congress
DAEGU, Nov. 8 (Yohap) -- The South Korean city of Daegu was selected Saturday to host the 2013 World Energy Congress, city officials said.
Organized by the World Energy Council (WEC) every three years, the international
conference is attended by more than 5,000 people from over 100 member countries
and is often dubbed the "Olympics in the field of energy."
Established in 1923, the council is a U.N.-accredited, non-governmental body that
covers all types of energy including coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, hydro and
renewable energy.
Daegu is an industrial city located about 300 km southeast of Seoul.
