South Sumatra Health Development On Right Track
Palembang, South Sumatra, July 1 (Antara) - Health development in South Sumatra is on the right track because the local government has implemented free-health service program, Health Minister Nafsiah Mboi has said.
Speaking at South Sumatra Health Coordination Meeting 2013 here on Monday, Nafsiah said the health development in the province, which has the vision of reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), should be an example.
The minister said the free-health service program in South Sumatra has been enjoyed by many people in the province.
"It is a step forward to reach the achievement of Millennium Development Goals," the health minister said.
She also appreciated South Sumatra provincial government`s plan to build Pratama hospital.
Nafsiah noted that besides building the hospital, the local government should also set its focus on the improvement of health service in the province, because the success of development depended on health and productive people.
Meanwhile, Governor Alex Noerdin said the health development in the province was implemented gradually and continuously to improve the public health.
"But besides the success that has been achieved, there are still many challenges and problems of health that must be dealt with through a hard work with the central government," said the South Sumatra governor.
