Top official: New trends observed in development of Azerbaijani media

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 11 / Trend E. Mehdiyev / New trends are observed in the development of the Azerbaijani media, Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Social and Political Department Ali Hasanov told media today. "The sixth congress of journalists occurred during the period of improvement of Azerbaijani journalists' professionalism, gradual removal of negative processes in journalism and the period of press democracy," Hasanov added. "Views, proposals and discussions voiced at the congress, in general, contribute to solving the social problems and improving the logistics base of the press," he said. "I think that the Azerbaijani media will get rid of all problems in the period after the congress," Hasanov added. While answering a question whether an initiative on the arrested journalists' release was put forward in the congress, Hasanov said that there was not such an initiative. "If there is such an initiative, it can be considered," he stressed. "There are court decisions concerning some journalists and press agencies. One must not connect this with the congress.
