Seoul shares open higher on Wall Street gains
SEOUL, Nov. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a strong start Monday
as investor sentiment was boosted by gains in U.S. markets, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 11.72 points, or
1.03 percent, to 1,146.21 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks rose Friday on bargain hunting following two days of heavy losses.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 2.85 percent and the tech-dominated
Nasdaq composite index climbed 2.41 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,318.85 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., up 9.95 won from Friday's close.
