Second cement producer in Uzbekistan slightly increases output

"Akhangarancement" JSC, (Akhangaran city, Tashkent region), the second largest cement producer in Uzbekistan, increased its cement production by 1.3 percent in the first six months of 2013, compared to about 739.5000 tons in the same period of 2012, the management of the enterprise told Trend on Monday.
"Akhangarancement" JSC became operational in 1961. The production capacity of the enterprise amounts to approximately 1.8 million tons of cement via wet processes.
Russian "Eurocement Group" got a 75.6 percent share of "Akhangarancement" in August of 2006. The Russian company bought a 50 percent package previously owned by the Uzbek-Swiss joint venture "Bentonite" and a 25.6 percent share from the Swiss Zeromax GmbH. Currently, the Russian company controls 83.67 percent of shares of the plant. Other shareholders are individual persons. The charter capital of the enterprise is estimated at 4.928 billion soms.
Currently, six cement plants operate in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of about 7 million tons. The largest plants are: "Kyzylkumcement" JSC (3.08 million tons), "Akhangarancement" JSC (1.8 million tons) and "Kuvasaycement" JSC (920,000 tons). About 72 percent of the total volume of goods production in Uzbekistan's construction industry is in the cement industry.
According to official statistics, cement production in the country increased by 1.3 percent in 2012, compared to about 6.78 million tons in 2011.
