President: Turkey’s cooperation with Iran extremely important against background of conflicts in region

Azerbaijan, Baku, September 26 /Trend, A.Taghiyeva/
Turkish president Abdullah Gul held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in New York within the 68th session of UN General Assembly, Anadolu agency reported.
According to the report, during the meeting, Gul stressed that Turkey's cooperation with Iran is extremely important against the background of conflicts in the region, in particular, the countries should activate their efforts to resolve the Syrian conflict.
He also stressed that Iran's statement about the relations with the West acquired a more positive character in recent years which will positively affect the negotiations between Iran and Western countries.
"Ankara hopes that Iran will change its current position in negotiations with the West and this will meet the interests of both Iranian nation and the country's government," Gul said. .
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and the country's Minister of Development Cevdet Yilmaz also participated in the meeting of Turkish and Iranian presidents.
