Car imports from Georgia to Azerbaijan increase by almost a quarter

Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 27 / Trend E. Aliyev / Around 29,250 cars worth $271.07 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2013, the Georgian Statistics Service said today. According to the report, the share of this category of goods in a total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan in the period amounted to 57.92 per cent. The exports of passenger cars from Georgia increased by 24.46 per cent, but by 28.42 per cent or 6,470 in quantitative terms compared to the same period of last year. By comparison, around 22,780 cars worth $217.79 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2012. Around 2500 trucks worth $16.55 million were exported to Azerbaijan for the first eight months of 2013, or by 19.1 per cent less, in quantitative terms - by 21.39 per cent more compared to the same period of 2012. Around 2060 trucks worth $20.46 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2012. Goods worth $468.04 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2013, or 26.6 per cent of the total volume of the country's exports during the period. Exports to Azerbaijan increased by 16.97 per cent compared to the same period of 2012. Georgian goods worth $400.13 million were exported to Azerbaijan in January-August last year.
