GUAM and Great Silk Road International Youth Union agree on cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 8 / Trend / GUAM and the Great Silk Road International Youth Union signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document was signed in Baku by GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili and the chairman of the Great Silk Road Union, MP Fuad Muradov on Tuesday. Cooperation between the two organizations will cover such areas as the economy and the humanitarian sphere, in particular the organization of business meetings, cultural and sports events, Muradov told journalists after signing a memorandum on Tuesday. According to him, the aim of cooperation is to attract the GUAM member states to closer interaction in the international arena. GUAM's authority in the world is growing every day, more and more countries and organizations become interested in cooperation with the organization, Valery Chechelashvili said in his turn. The signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Great Silk Road International Youth Union is one more step in this direction, GUAM Secretary General said. GUAM was established by several post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization and left four years later. A decision was made to rename GUAM 'The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM', at the body's first summit in Kiev in 2006. Do you have any feedback?
