SC First Bank Q3 net jumps 41 pct on lower costs

SEOUL, Nov. 14 (Yonhap) -- SC First Bank Korea, the South Korean unit of British Standard Chartered Bank, said Friday its third-quarter earnings surged 41 percent on-year thanks to cost-cutting efforts.

Net profit stood at 349 billion won (US$250 million) in the July-September
period, compared with 247 billion won a year earlier, the unlisted bank said in a
statement.
Operating profit spiked 62 percent from a year earlier to 482 billion won in the
period, the lender said, without releasing revenue figures.
SC First Bank said its assets totaled 75.6 trillion won at the end of September,
up around 14 trillion won from a year ago.
In April 2005, the British lender took over Korea First Bank for 3.4 trillion
won, renaming it SC First Bank Korea.
