South Africans Choose Malaysia As Tourism Destination

By Yasmin Ahmad Zukiman KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- More Africans are discovering Malaysia as a tourism destination, said South Africa's High Commissioner to Malaysia, Thami Mseleku. He said Malaysia had many beautiful places to visit, especially the ones related to the Malaysian culture and lifestyles. On Visit Malaysia Year 2014, he said the country was on the right track to fascinate the world with its specialties and uniqueness, and commended the 'Malaysia, Truly Asia' tagline. "One of the things that Malaysia can do is to keep promoting good branding for everyone to remember...even if they don't know where Malaysia is, but when they hear the beautiful caption of 'Malaysia, Truly Asia', they will eagerly want to see," he told Bernama at the 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom' movie premiere here Wednesday night. The 126-minute-long movie directed by Justin Chadwick has incorporated South Africa's late president, Nelson Mandela, on his extraordinary life journey from childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically-elected president of South Africa. Meanwhile, Mseleku said about 500 South Africans were living in Malaysia, consisting of businessmen and professionals. He said economy, tourism and education industries were among key areas that needed to be strengthened between Malaysia and South Africa to reflect their long bilateral ties. -- BERNAMA
