Perhutani Sets Net Profit Target At Rp287 B This Year

Jakarta, March 5 (Antara) - Perum Perhutani has set its net profit target at Rp287 billion this year or an increase of 40.6 percent from last year. "The prediction is based on an expected surge in income to Rp4.6 trillion this year from Rp3.86 trillion in 2013," president of the state forestry company Bambang Sukmananto said here on Wednesday. Bambang said an increase in income expected from non timber business would improve the company`s financial performance. "This year, Perhutani hope to earn more from business in downstream industry with the operation of its gandarukam turpentine derivative factory," he said. In 2013, timber business unit accounted for 52 percent of its income but in 2014, non timber business units would contribute 55 percent to its income, he said. Last year its exports of non timber products were worth Rp1.34 trillion with sales of forest trees were valued at Rp1.61 trillion . Meanwhile, finance director of the company Morgan Sharif Lumban Batu said in 2014, the company sets aside Rp551 billion for capital expenditure , up from Rp253.82 billion in 2013. Around Rp108 billion of the fund will be used to build a sago factory in Sorong Selatan, Papua Barat and the rest would be used to build infrastructure including roads and bridge , and to procure machine and heavy equipment and for capital participation. Morgan said the capital expenditures would be raised from internal fund and bank loans. "Two state lender - BRI and BNI - are always ready to finance business expansion of Perhutani," he said. Business Planning and Expansion Director of Perhutani Tedjo Rumekso said the sago factory is currently under construction. He said the factory with a land concession of 16,000 hectares, it to be operational; in April 2015. "When it is fully operational the factory will have a production capacity of 30,000 tons of sago flour per year," he said. Perhutani cooperates with two state companies -- PT Barata in the factory construction and with electricity utility PT PLN to build a power plant to guarantee power supply, he said. He said the power plant will be fueled with the sago palm trees. Excess of the power supply will also be sold commercially, he added. Perhutani already started operating a gondorukem derivative or pine tree resin and turpentine processing factory in Pemalang, Central Java with a capacity of 30,000 tons per year. The factory which was built with an investment of Rp190 billion will be the largest godorukem processing factory in Southeast Asia. The derivative products of processed gondorukem will include glycerol , alpha pinene, betha pinene, limonen, cineol and turpentine, a basic material for food and beverage industry, adhesive industry, paper industry , paint industry , ink industry , perfume industry and pharmaceutical industries. "Derivatives of turpentine will be needed in various industries from paper to plastic , leather and laundry soap industries," Tedjo said.
