S. Korea's Air Force to hold aerial exercise
SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean Air Force will hold a large-scale
exercise this week aimed at improving its strategic and combat skills, involving
over 30 aircraft including the latest F-15K jets, the armed service said Tuesday.
The inaugural exercise, named "Soaring Eagle," will continue for two weeks
starting Wednesday, according to the Air Force. It will be the first such
comprehensive aerial drill with air-to-air and air-to-surface operations.
"The Air Force plans to develop Soaring Eagle into an actual combat training
maneuver, like the U.S. Air Force's Red Flag exercise," said Col. Sim
Cheong-yong, a wing commander in charge of the upcoming drill.
