S. Korea, China, Japan to discuss financial stabilization
SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) --South Korea, China and Japan will hold working-level
talks this week to discuss ways to stabilize their flagging financial markets,
Seoul officials said Tuesday.
During the workshop to be held in Tokyo on Wednesday, financial policymakers and
central bank officials from the three Asian countries will exchange opinions on
economic conditions and discuss ways to strengthen a monitoring system for
financial markets, according to the Finance Ministry.
The gathering will also likely provide the three neighboring economic powers a
chance to further discuss expanding their current swap lines at a time when
global financial turmoil is taking a toll on credit conditions, observers say.
South Korea recently launched negotiations with China and Japan to expand its
US$4 billion and $13 billion currency swap lines with the two countries.
