Mahathir To Give General Lecture About Malaysia-Indonesia Relationship
Jakarta, March 14 (Antara) - The Former Malaysia`s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad will deliver a general lecture about Malaysia and Indonesia relationship in the past, present and future perspectives.
The general lecture was initiated by the Malaysian Embassy at Jakarta, Indonesia and hosted by Chairul Tanjung, the CEO of Transcorp, at the Bank Mega Building in Jakarta, on Monday.
"I chose the title of Malaysia-Indonesia in the past, present and future because of Indonesia is always a brother, an older brother, for Malaysia," admitted Mahathir during a press conference here on Monday.
UMNO is the abbreviation of United Malays Nations Organization, the ruling party of Malaysian government since 1951, and Mahathir is its longest ruling prime minister from 1981 to 2003.
Mahathir also pointed out that Indonesia and Malaysia have equal potentials in either its human resource or its natural resource, and they have to seek out a better cooperation in order to develop each of the countries.
"We really have to find a way to benefit our potential assets," he stressed.
After delivering his lecture, Mahathir will meet with Indonesia`s former President Megawati Soekarnoputri at her residence at Teuku Umar, Central Jakarta.
Regarding the visit, Mahathir denied that it was implying his support to Megawati`s party, Indonesian Democratic Struggle (PDIP).
"Nothing like that, it`s just a courtesy call since she`s (Megawati) an old friend," he assured.
