Italian firm to set up major manufacturing plant in Dubai
Dubai, Nov 27, 2008 (WAM) - An Italian company is preparing to set up a major manufacturing plant in Dubai to produce eco-friendly homes, tailor made for the UAE market.
In a bid to expand beyond its established Italian market, Beton Costruzioni will use the new 90,000sqm manufacturing plant to produce pre-fabricated, pre-stressed energy efficient industrial buildings.
Geom S. Roncada, Technical Director of Beton Costruzioni, said: "We intend to set up a representative office in Dubai by the end of the year and our full manufacturing plant will be in operation by July 2009." The company is in the UAE for the first time to take part in this week's Big 5 PMV at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre and to launch the high-class 'Venice Villa', designed by the architect, Manlio Olivotto.
Specifically designed for the Emirates market, the architecturally designed villas are surrounded by deep arched verandas on the lower floor which reduce the exposure of the perimeter walls to the harsh summer temperatures in the UAE, and can help companies and families to cut down on energy bills.
"The use of the new integrated photovoltaic roof coating, supplied by our partner General Membrane Srl, will help reduce approximately 36 per cent of electricity needs. This feature, coupled with the energy efficient insulation, will in turn help cut costs on energy bills and can be found on our industrial buildings as well," said Roncada.
Beton is one of 81 Italian companies exhibiting at the Big 5 PMV. The Italian pavilion, covering more than 4,600sqm, includes Car Segnaletica, a producer of noise guard rails, Vertico, a lift, escalator and moving walkway manufacturer, and Bossong, a long established Italian company which produces the most modern solutions in the field of mechanical fastening and chemical anchoring.
Nick Webb, Director, Streamline Marketing Group, organisers of the Big 5 PMV said: "Many Italian companies are taking advantage of the Big 5 PMV to capitalise on the lucrative construction industry and to expand within the region. The show has created an ideal platform for them to meet with the region's leading contractors and developers, and showcase their innovative products and services." The Big 5 PMV takes place until tomorrow, running alongside the Big 5, in Car Park C.
