Seoul shares slightly up in early trade
SEOUL, Nov. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks were trading 0.37 percent higher
in early trading Friday as investors bought banking and construction shares,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 3.96 points to
1,067.44 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Investor sentiment was buoyed as Finance Minister Kang Man-soo forecast earlier
in the day that South Korea will post a current account surplus next year, along
with surpluses in November and December.
Recent rallies on Wall Street bolstered market sentiment here. U.S. markets were
closed on Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday, taking a break after four
consecutive sessions of advances.
The local currency was trading at 1,481.05 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 5.05 won from Thursday's close.
