56 Malaysian Delegates In 13th Tamil Internet Conference

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 12 (Bernama)-- Fifty-six delegates from Malaysia have confirmed their participation in the three-day Tamil Internet Conference 2014, to be held at Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, India from Sept 19.
International Forum for Information Technology in Tamil (INFITT), Malaysian Chapter chairman C.M. Elanttamil said the conference would be a good platform to share new information and the latest findings in the internet world.
He said more than 600 professionals and experts from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka would converge at the venue.
"They will discuss various issues including computer and online assisted teaching, Tamil databases and e-commerce, digital library and e-content delivery across various hand-held devices," he said.
Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry, N. Rangaswamy is expected to launch this year's conference themed, 'Natural Language Processing (NLP) as applied to Tamil'.
Malaysia was selected to host the 4th and 12th Tamil Internet Conferences in 2001 and last year, respectively.
The conference is jointly organised by INFITT, Puducherry government, Pondicherry Institute of Linguistics and Culture and the Central Institute of Indian Languages in Mysore.
Meanwhile, Elanttamil said the tutorials and workshops would cover topics such as Tamil text processing, Tamil blogs, Wikipedia and computer-aided teaching of Tamil.
Various Tamil software and hardware would also be displayed at the exhibition hub, he said.
