Department head attends general debate at UN GA session

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ While taking part in the general debate of the 2nd Committee of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, a director of the International Organizations of Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs G.Ganbold has delivered speech to highlight a position of his country. Mr Ganbold underlined an importance of the UN Second Committee’s role in formulating the developmental programme beyond 2015, and said Mongolia aspires to reflect unique needs of the landlocked countries in this programme. He also said Mongolian representatives attach a great importance to the issues of global climate change which are to be discussed by the Second Committee, and talked about a parliament-approved green development policy that aims to be transferred to the economic system of sustainable development model and less emission of greenhouse gas. Mr Ganbold emphasized that an international meeting themed “WTO agreements on easing trade and their impacts on landlocked developing nations”, which ran June in Ulaanbaatar, contributed to monitoring a realization of the Almaty Programme of Action. Moreover, he urged the landlocked developing countries to join the multilateral agreement on establishing the International Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries. He hoped that the UN second conference for the landlocked developing countries expected in November in Vienna will consider many important matters such as problems of these countries and will release an action master programme to be implemented next decade.
