Ambassador addresses 69th UN GA Third Committee Plenary Session
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A representative of Mongolia to the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, ambassador Ms O.Enkhtsetseg addressed the Third Committee Plenary Session on Social Development.
According to the Secretary-general who said that the social development is still an urgent issue in the countries in times of approaching to determining the development goals beyond 2015, the plenary session gave a priority to the social development from many different angles such as improving potentials of the peoples, solving problems faced by youth, elders, disabled and families, our representative presented Mongolia’s measures and policies on increasing the citizens' participation in decision- and policy-making processes, on improving employment, refining a quality and access for education. For instance, she emphasized the activities of the Civil Hall aimed at developing a direct democracy, a "11-11" Center for citizens’ services, a launch of the state-services automatic machines, and then shared practices of citizens' involvement in expenditure of localities' budgets. Modern advancements in information technology such as tele-communication, Internet network, and social broadcasting digital systems bring quality achievements in public services, she stressed.
She also provided information on activities of “Employed Mongolian” programme, particularly on creating new jobs, professional trainings and other works aimed at improving employment among some groups of society as over 40-yea olds and the disabled.
She noted that there is a need to cooperate with the member-countries in overcoming some challenges emerging in improving potentials of population through promoting education and human development, and in improving employment rate in terms of number and quality.
