W Sulawesi Striving To Forge Ahead

Mamuju, W Sulawesi, Oct 14 (Antara) - West Sulawesi Province has been struggling to move forward to forego its status of a disadvantaged region in Indonesia, stated West Sulawesi Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh. "The local government and the people continue to strive to shed the status of backwardness," the governor stated here on Tuesday. According to him, the West Sulawesi province has been designated as an area that has risen from the status of a disadvantaged area in Indonesia, although a few districts are still categorized as underdeveloped areas. "All districts will slowly be excluded from the category of underdeveloped area," the governor remarked, adding that the local government and the people should think about ways to offer their best possible services to encourage the development in the province. In the meantime, North Mamuju District Head Agus Ambo Djiwa affirmed that based on the central government`s assessment, the North Mamuju district is no longer a disadvantaged region in West Sulawesi. "North Mamuju district has been excluded from the category of disadvantaged area," Agus stated, adding that the local government will continue to build the economy of this region.
