Jeju Air to offer regular overseas flights next March
By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's biggest low-fare carrier Jeju Air Co.
said Wednesday that it will offer daily flight services on the route between
Incheon and Osaka, Japan starting next March.
Jeju Air also plans to provide flights linking Incheon, the main gateway of South
Korea, and Kitakyushu, Japan, three times a week, the carrier said in a
statement.
Jeju Air began flight services on domestic routes in 2006 and launched charter
flight services between the city of Jeju and Hiroshima, Japan in July.
As of December, three budget carriers -- Jeju Air Co., Jin Air Co. and AirBusan
Co. -- offer domestic flight services, while discount carriers Eastar Jet, Kostar
Airlines and Incheon Tiger Airways are preparing to launch domestic routes.
Amid the deepening economic downturn, Hansung Airlines, the country's first
budget carrier, suspended flight services in mid-October, while another budget
carrier Yeongnam Air Co., went belly-up early this month.
