INDONESIA TO HOLD ANNIVERSARY OF ASIA-AFRICA CONFERENCE
Jakarta, Jan 9 (Antara) - The Indonesian government will organize a commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) in April 2015.
Two major events will be held respectively in Bandung, West Java, and Jakarta, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno P. Marsudi noted during a press conference here on Friday.
The first segment will be organized in Jakarta on April 19-23, 2015, and the second one in Bandung, on April 24, 2015.
The Indonesian government will invite 109 world leaders and 25 international organizations to attend the events.
Several ministerial- and senior official-level meetings will be held alongside the world leaders' summit in Jakarta to discuss efforts to intensify South-South cooperation, to improve the public welfare, and to maintain world peace.
Some side events such as the Asia-Africa Business Summit and Asia-Africa Carnival will also be organized in Bandung.
Minister Marsudi held the press conference following a limited cabinet meeting led by President Joko Widodo to discuss the preparations for the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf M. Kalla, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno P. Marsudi, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasona H. Laoly, Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara, National Police Chief General Sutarman, Deputy Governor of Jakarta Deddy Miswar, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, and Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, among several others.
