Hynix to sell US chip plant by end of year By Kim Young-gyo

SEOUL, Dec. 18 (Yonhap) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc. is to complete the sale of its only U.S. factory by the end of the year, increasing the chip maker's liquidity supply, the head of the company said on Thursday.

"We are in negotiations with the potential buyer over the facility in Eugene,
Oregon, and we are expecting the results soon," Kim Jong-kap, CEO of the world's
second-largest memory chip manufacturer, told a local newspaper.
"Along with this, we are planning to raise the company's liquidity to 1 trillion
won (US$772,798,000) by selling idle properties and curtailing expenses."
Hynix is projected to report a record operating loss in the fourth quarter as a
global glut is driving down prices amid a global recession, according to market
watchers.
It logged a 1.65 trillion won net loss in the July-September period, compared
with a profit of 168 billion won a year earlier.
Creditors of Hynix are reported to have agreed to provide 800 billion won in
financial support.
The possible buyer of the factory is reportedly a U.S.company focused on
information technology. Analysts expect the sales price to be around 400 billion
won.
