ASEAN Countries Discuss Enhancing TV Content To Attract Young Viewers
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Ministry will discuss and cooperate with ASEAN member countries to enhance broadcast content to rekindle youths' interest to watch television again.
The ministry's deputy secretary-general (Operation), Che Azemi Haron said the ASEAN-Japan Television Festival (AJTF) here also discussed cooperation among ASEAN countries in terms of sharing of information and how to further enhance cooperation among them.
"The matter discussed at the dialogue session of the festival was on how to build the broadcast content with the change in technology from analog to digital to meet the present needs of youths.
"The young people need a suitable content because they are more focus on change in the social media, especially Internet, he told reporters after the closing of AJTF Thursday.
The four-day festival, which began on Sept 9, was attended by more than 230 participants, comprising producers of TV programme, broadcasters, academicians and broadcasting students.
Che Azemi said participants at the seminar were also exposed to a study conducted in Japan which found a drop in television viewers among youths.
He said the broadcast technology worldwide was always changing and participants also discussed the future of the broadcast industry.
"We have 10 Asean member countries which also shared their views on how to face the new media," he added.
