Corporate Games is coming to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in April

Dubai, Jan 4, 2009 (WAM) - Ready for some much-needed sporting action? Dying to bring out the athlete in you? See yourself as a champion performer? Worry not – come April 2009, the first ever Arabian Corporate Games will provide the perfect platform for individuals and companies to bring all their talent to the fore according to a report in Emirates Business 24|7.
After establishing its footprint across the world over the past 20 years in cities such as London, Athens, Brisbane, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg, Moscow, San Francisco, Sydney, Manchester, Budapest, Norwich etc, the Corporate Games is now coming to the UAE.
The first edition is scheduled to be held from April 8 to 11, 2009, in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and is being organised by Higher Colleges of Technology.
Created by Sport for Life, the Corporate Games is a unique mix of multisport festivals for the everyday athlete.
Launched in 1988 in San Francisco, the Games has been held in every continent and in many of the world's greatest cities and offers the ultimate mix of sport, business and tourism in which everyone, regardless of age or ability, can compete and be part of a great experience.
The Arabian Corporate Games, spread over four days, will have 19 disciplines of sports including golf, dragon boat racing, soccer, cricket and swimming and the programme would include celebrations, sports, parties, exhibitions and business-to-business networking.
This is the first ever occasion in the history of the entire region that such an initiative is being planned and the Corporate Games will provide a fantastic platform to promote the UAE and its host cities – Dubai and Abu Dhabi – to the rest of the world.
Worldwide, across the cities where the Corporate Games has been hosted thus far over the past 20 years, has resulted in high-voltage coverage resulting in increased tourism, business and job opportunities.
The Games is open to all organisations and businesses – large or small – and the teams can include employees, colleagues, clients, family and friends. Apart from executives across the board, the competitors can include bankers, sales professionals, public servants, scientists and real estate professionals. In fact, anyone with even the slightest of sporting streak is an ideal candidate.
Sport for Life is the entity behind the Corporate Games and is headquartered in the UK and they, through their licencees across various footprints, run and manage the Games around the world. A dedicated, highly sophisticated software system manages the Games from original contact to final results, including entry processing and scheduling.
The Corporate Games offers many benefits to a wide range of clients that include athletes, corporations, licencees, the host city, sponsors and charities, among others. Part of the proceeds from the first Arabian Corporate Games would be given to Al Noor Centre for Special Needs Children.
