Colombian President receives Abdullah bin Zayed

BOGOTA, 11th February, 2016 (WAM) -- President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, last night received H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, in Bogota. During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and the Colombian President discussed boosting cooperation relations between the two countries in various political, economic, investment, and trade fields as well as renewable energy, agricultural, and oil fields, in a way to achieve the common interest of both sides. The two sides also exchanged views on current developments in the region. The Colombian President welcomed the UAE Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, pointing out that his visit to Colombia reflects the keenness of UAE and Colombia's leaderships on exchanging visits and meetings, and further develop their bilateral relations to serve the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples. In this regard, President Santos stressed his country's keenness to strengthen bonds of cooperation with the UAE. President Santos commended the economic developments achieved by the United Arab Emirates, expressing his hopes that the relationship between the two countries would witness further progress and prosperity. Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE has succeeded in creating an enabling, economic and political environment geared towards achieving a global standard of human and economic development, which contributes to making the UAE one of the leading countries in the world to attract foreign investment.
