KHARTOUM, 18th May, 2016 (WAM) – The Zayed Heart Humanitarian Mobile Hospital has conducted 150 heart surgeries in Sudan under the supervision of the UAE, French and Sudanese voluntary medical teams.
During the humanitarian medical mission in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the hospital will deliver diagnostic, surgical, therapeutic and preventive services to needy heart patients, particularly children and elderly people.
A joint humanitarian project between the Zayed Giving Initiative, the Saudi-German Hospital and Dar Al Ber Society, in collaboration with the Sudanese ministries of health and social security and Sudan Volunteer Centre, the state-of-the-art hospital is the first of its kind in the world to conduct open heart and cardiac catheterisation surgeries.
Emirati heart surgeon Dr Adel Al Shamri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said the Emirati-Sudanese heart care programme would deliver a qualitative shift in the quality of cardiac services at the hands of prominent international cardiologists under a voluntary umbrella.
He indicated that a group of Sudanese medical professionals will receive advanced training on heart surgeries.
Salah Al Basha, a Sudanese cardiologist, said the heart operations are being conducted under agreements concluded between the Zayed Giving Initiative and Sudanese ministries of health and social security and Sudan Volunteer Centre.
