Emergency situations ministry board

Astana, 21 January 2009, Khabar - A special elite mobile subdivision equipped with the cutting edge technologies is to be created at the emergency situations ministry as such a task was assigned by the head of the government at the concluding board meeting at the structure. Summing the results of the past year it was decided to demonstrate the uniform and equipment of the modern Kazakhstani rescuers at the ministry. The head of the government, Karim Massimov visited a new fire department in Astana. 117 crew members will be protecting the buildings located on the left bank area of the capital from fire. Both central and regional subdivisions of the emergency situation ministry are annually supplied with new rescue equipment. The state allocates considerable funds for the elimination of emergency situations every year.

Vladimir Bozhko, minister for emergency situations of RK:
- For 2008 concerning emergency situations alone the government allocated 30,4 billion tenge and around 14 billion tenge was allocated additionally for the emergency situations ministry’s budget. It has become a proof of social responsibility of our state concerning the security of our citizens and at the same time stability of our economy, and demonstration of its strength within the context of the world financial crisis. No Central Asian country can afford such allocations.

Vladimir Bozhko also stressed that over 27 thousand people were rescued by the field services of the ministry in 2008. On the whole, the number of emergency situations caused by nature increased by 16, 6% last year. At the board meeting Karim Massimov highly appraised the work of the department done the last year.

Karim Massimov, prime minister of RK:
- In my opinion, you handled well the anti-crisis measures of 2008. The so-called “air bags” which were created in 2008 were implemented rather successfully despite the danger at the end of 2007. We haven’t experienced any deficiency in food and there was no big price boom either thanks to your ministry which was in charge of these issues and we managed it quite successfully. I wanted to express my gratitude to you for doing so well.

At the end of the board meeting, the head of the government assigned few tasks designed to avoid unemployment in the country and continue the work on the creation of the united emergency telephone number “112” in the republic.
