Nissan Chief to Double as Mitsubishi Motors Chairman

Tokyo, Oct. 19 (Jiji Press)--Carlos Ghosn, president and chief executive officer of Nissan Motor Co. <7201>, will double as Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s <7211> next chairman, informed sources said Wednesday. The move comes as Nissan plans to acquire a 34 pct stake in Mitsubishi as early as this month. Nissan plans to promote drastic reform at Mitsubishi to help it recover from a high-profile fuel efficiency data manipulation scandal. The appointment of Ghosn will be finalized after an extraordinary shareholders' meeting at Mitsubishi in December. Nissan is currently asking incumbent Mitsubishi Chairman and President Osamu Masuko to remain as president. END
