#The_UAE_Remembers campaign begins to mark Commemoration Day on 30th November

ABU DHABI, 5th November, 2016 (WAM) -- #The_UAE_Remembers campaign, organised by the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, was launched today in the run-up to the UAE’s annual Commemoration Day on 30th November. The campaign will enable the country’s people to show their respect and gratitude to those members of the UAE society who died to ensure the safety and security of the nation. It is also an opportunity for the nation’s diverse communities to show their support and stand with the country’s leadership in its efforts to provide a safe, secure and tolerant environment for all. The Commemoration Day is a national event and encourages participation of the entire community, the Emirati nationals as well as people from 200 nationalities who reside in the country. This year’s campaign recalls the sacrifices made by all the heroes of the Union. It pays tribute to their parents who taught their children to love their nation and safeguard its values, honour and sovereignty. It will also reflect the emirates’ commitment to the safety, security and tolerance of the region as a whole. The initiative aims to uphold four key causes – nurturing the pride people feel for the country’s heroes; immortalising the memory of those who gave their lives for the nation; feeling gratitude for the cohesion and unity that characterise the UAE and celebrating the Commemoration Day, an annual event, and a dedicated occasion to show respect through remembrance. #The_UAE_Remembers campaign follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, and also showing the respect and appreciation that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has for the families of these national heroes. The Commemoration Day allows everyone to express their pride in the sacrifices made by the heroes of the UAE, said Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Director of The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court. "The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court will work with all relevant authorities to ensure we reach out across the nation and enable everyone - citizens, residents, government and businesses - to participate and show their respect," he said. "This is our way of showing our gratitude for the sacrifices made by our countrymen, as well as giving our full support to their families, in line with the values of unity and solidarity ingrained in the UAE society." Events will be held in schools and universities, and sporting events and other social functions will also be held, allowing all to pay their respects to the nation’s heroes. The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office, in co-operation with various stakeholders, will oversee all the events organised for the campaign. #The_UAE_Remembers will culminate in the symbolic lowering of the national flag across the country at 11.30am on the Commemoration Day, followed by one minute of silence in every emirate. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395302654770.html
