S. Korea's statistics agency to eliminate 4.3 pct of jobs
SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's national statistics agency plans to cut its workforce by 4.3 percent this year as part of efforts to slim down, officials said Sunday.
The National Statistical Office will cut 101 out of 2,358 jobs in total, mostly
through attrition, by the end of this year, an NSO official said. The statement
is the first such announcement this year regarding planned job cuts by a
government agency.
The statistics agency will also consolidate its regional offices, the official
said.
Last month, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance said 69 state-run companies plan
to slash about 19,000 jobs over the next three to four years.
