POSCO set to finalize CEO candidate

SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- Leading South Korean steelmaker POSCO is expected to
select the final candidate for its new chief executive officer this week,
industry sources said Wednesday.

The choice is to be announced on Thursday. Current CEO Lee Ku-taek, 65, expressed
his intention to step down on Jan. 15 to make way for a new management to cope
with the global economic slump.
According to the sources, POSCO's CEO recommendation committee, comprising eight
outside directors, will choose between two shortlisted candidates -- Yoon
Seok-man, president of POSCO, and Chung Joon-yang, chief executive of POSCO
Engineering & Construction Co., the steelmaker's construction unit.
The final candidate will be officially named POSCO's CEO at a board meeting
scheduled for Feb. 27, the steelmaker said.
