Zayed Giving Initiative to offer free medical services to heart patients in Mauritania

ABU DHABI, 20th December, 2016 (WAM) -- The Zayed Giving Initiative, the UAE’s leading philanthropic organisation based on the model of humanitarian volunteer work, will send a mobile hospital to Mauritania to provide early detection service for heart diseases and conduct awareness campaigns about simple prevention and treatment of cardiac disorders. An Emirati-Mauritanian volunteer team will impart medical care services free of cost to poor patients under a joint partnership with the Saudi-German Hospital and the Dar Al Ber Society, a Dubai-based philanthropic and charitable organisation, CEO Dr Adel Al Shamari said. ''The joint medical team will arrive in Mauritania soon to carry out an educational, curative and preventive programme,'' he added. Since being founded in 2000, the initiative has implemented humanitarian missions benefiting more than 4.5 million children and the elderly. Over 10,000 surgeries have been performed on poor patients and more than 10,000 medical professionals have been trained. The Zayed Giving Initiative, founded in 2003, after the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates, aims to promote volunteerism and harness the potential of institutions and individuals for effective participation in community development in the areas of health, education, environment, and culture. In a short span of time, the initiative has succeeded in firmly positioning the UAE’s humanitarian work globally by extending support to thousands of people affected by disasters, poverty, underdevelopment and epidemics, in different parts of the world. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates-international-aid/1395304882079.html
