Samsung SDI Q4 loss narrows sharply
SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- Samsung SDI Co., a South Korean maker of plasma display panels, said Thursday its fourth-quarter loss narrowed sharply from a year earlier on a weaker won and lower raw material prices.
Net loss came to 38.9 billion won (US$28.4 million) in the October-December
period, compared with a 273.9 billion won shortfall a year earlier, the company
said in a regulatory filing.
Sales increased 24 percent on-year to 1.46 trillion won, and operating income
reached 51.2 billion won, a turnaround from a loss of 193.5 billion won a year
earlier, it said.
For all of 2008, Samsung SDI posted a net profit of 38.9 billion won on sales of
5.3 trillion won.
