Daewoo Engineering 2008 net down 74 pct By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top builder Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., said Thursday its net profit tumbled 74 percent in 2008 from a year earlier due to a housing slump.
Net income came to 245.9 billion won (US$179.6 million) last year, compared with
938 billion won the previous year, Daewoo Engineering said in a regulatory
filing.
Revenue rose 8.4 percent on-year to 6.57 trillion won on increased overseas
orders but operating profit plunged 38.6 percent to 343.9 billion won, it said.
