Berlin is hosting the world’s largest International Green Week. This is one of the oldest, internationally acclaimed public exhibitions for food, agriculture, and gardening industries. For the first time, the German capital hosted the exhibition in 1926. To this day, traditionally Berlin attracts farmers from across the world in January. This year, more than 1,500 agricultural manufacturers showcased their products at the fair. 26 pavilions are open to visitors. Each country demonstrates its achievements. There are innovative harvesters, elite horses and all possible exotic fruits. The delegation from Kazakhstan has arrived in Berlin to attend the agricultural fair.

YERMEK KOSHERBAEV, EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE:

We are now implementing several pilot projects in the field of agricultural cooperation, organic production. All these products are displayed in the exhibition. We would like to use cutting-edge experiences of other countries in this direction, so that they can be applied in Kazakhstan and, accordingly, to increase agricultural productivity and improve competitiveness.

In addition, the national cuisine of almost all countries is presented at the fair. Hungarian goulash, Ukrainian borscht, Turkish baklava, Moroccan tea can be found here. The wide range of cheeses was brought from the Netherlands, France and Argentina. The fair features almost all kinds of dishes, even quite unusual ones. For example, German cooks have presented black potato fries, black sausages and brown bread.

GERHARD YAKE, FARMER:

We mix our potatoes with dyes from cabbage. It is very healthy for digestion. Based on this cabbage, medicines are produced. We add water, then our product passes through the press. And we receive black potatoes, which are then fried. They are delicious and healthy.

Domestic products, including Kazakhstani chocolate, kumys, Almaty aport apples and more will soon be represented at the international agricultural fair in Berlin. According to the Kazakh Mazhilis members, who had visited Germany, Kazakhstan must participate in the Green Week exhibition. Domestic farmers have much to present.
