FC Esteghlal of Ahvaz takes first blood in Asian Champions League

TEHRAN, Feb 21 (MNA) – Esteghlal of Khuzestan has defeated hosting FC Al-Fath of Al-Hasa, Saudi Arabia in the first day of Group B on Monday. This was Esteghlal’s first blood taken in an away match in Saudi Arabia. The goal came late in the match when in 80th minute Abolfazl Alaei scored for the guest to surprise the hosting Al-Fath. This set FC Esteghlal of Khuzestan on top of the group with 3 points. For guest played Vahid Sheikhveisi, Mohammad Tayyebi, Abolfazl Alaei, Danial Mahini, Peiman SHirzad, Farshad Salarvand, Mehdi Momeni, Ali Asghar Ashouri, Elvis Nang, Arash Afshin, and Hassan Beitsaeid. Once an FC Esteghlal of Tehran defender Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh headed the team as director and headcoach in the match. Al-Fath found chances on the pitch and would open the account earlier in the match; however, the guest thwarted their odds to secure 3 points so dearly held in an away match. Lekhwiya Sports Club of Qatar and Al-Jazira Abu Dhabi will play in the second match of the group.
