Seoul stocks up 0.33 pct in late morning

SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.33 percent higher late
Monday morning, rebounding from an opening loss, on massive foreign buying,
analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 3.86 points to
1,165.97 as of 11:20 a.m.
"Massive foreign purchases led the KOSPI gain, overshadowing pessimistic export
data and bleak corporate earnings," said Lee Seung-woo, an analyst at Daewoo
Securities.
South Korean export tumbled a record 32.8 percent in January from a year earlier,
according to government data.
The local currency was trading at 1,393.2 to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20 a.m.,
down 14.2 won from Friday's close.
