New Technology for Raising Sharp Persimmon Trees Developed

Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- A research group of the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK succeeded in developing a technology for raising sharp persimmon trees on the basis of tissue culture. Sharp persimmon is rich in sugar, protein, organic acids and vitamin C. The research group solved sci-tech problems arising in germination by culturing growing points, ascertainment of various nutriments and their optimum concentration, etc. Tissue-cultured saplings were transplanted in different fruit farms and the rates of their rooting and acclimatization reached nearly 100 percent. -0-
